Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for visiting our website and considering the Harrington United Football Club, know as "The Hornets", as your football club.

We have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions. Hopefully they will answer any queries that you may have.

Q. How old does my child have to be to play Football?
A. Children must be turning 5 this year (2018) to play Football. This is a Football Australia regulation.

Q. What do I need to bring to registration?
A. The registration process has changed from last year as my football club NSW have implemented a new
system. Each player needs to self register themselves this year, so please try to do so at home, if you can.
If coming on registration day please bring the following:
1. Either your email of your FFA number and password.
2. If using your kids active voucher you need the number before your register.
Q. Where is registration and what days is it on?
A. Registration will be held at the following dates and places:
27th Jan 10AM to 1PM @ "The Hive"
31st Jan 6PM to 8PM @ Harrington Park Plaza
2nd Feb 9AM to 2PM @ Harrington Park Community Hall
9th Feb 9AM to 2PM @ Harrington Park Community Hall

Q. What type of football will my child be playing?
A. Children between Under 6 and Under 11 will be playing Small Sided Games.
This means that for:
  • Under 6’s and 7’s there are 4 players on the pitch.
  • Under 8’s and 9’s play 7 v 7.
  • Under 10's and 11's play 9v9.

Q. Are there any ongoing fees through the year?
A. No, all fees are inclusive.

Q. Will I need to buy anything else?
A. Hornets Shorts and Socks are available from the Club at $20 and $15 respectively. All players MUST wear
these items. Any player not wearing approved Hornets team uniform will be prevented from playing. Players
must also have approved football boots and shin guards.

 Q. Can my child play with his friends?
A. We make every effort to place children into teams of their choosing, particularly in Under 6’s. However, if you are joining an existing team, you may need to speak with the Coach, or, for Full Field teams, go through a grading process.

Q. When are gradings being held and for what teams?
A. Gradings will be held on Sunday 17th February 2019.
Gradings are for Division 1 teams. Players wishing to play in lower grades in teams they were part of in 2019
may chose not to grade, if at all possible.

Q. When is training conducted?
A. Most teams train 1 night per week. Some Division 1 sides may chose to train more often. Training times are at
the discretion of the Team Coach.

Q. Where is training held?
A. Teams train at The Hive, on Charker Drive Harrington Park.  Some teams train at alternative fields as the Hive
is not large enough to cater for the club.

Q. Where are the Home games played?
A. The Hornets home ground is “The Hive”, at Charker Drive, Harrington Park, right next to the lake.

Q. Where will I have to travel to play?
A. The Hornets participate in the Macarthur District Soccer Football Association. Affiliated teams stretch from Glenfield to Appin, Tahmoor and Burragorang (Oakdale). There are many teams in the greater Camden and Campbelltown areas.

Q. What days are the games on?
A. Small Sided Games and Juniors, including U12 to U17 Boys & Girls, are played on Saturdays.
U18 and above, All Age and Over 35’s are played on Sundays.

Q. When does the season start?
A. Round 1 is scheduled for Early April 2017,  however, the Club plans trial matches prior to the season starting.
